Article1 Campus
Wuhan Textile University has 3 space campuses; they are sunshine campus, south lake campus and east lake campus.
Sunshine Campus
It is the newest and biggest campus and the one where you will study and live. Sunshine campus is located in the high technology zone far from the center of the Wuhan city, and close to the beautiful and rich Tang Xun Lake. Here there‘s vast land, many ponds, fresh air and bright sunshine year-round. Hence the name sunshine campus.

South Lake Campus
It is our old campus located in the heart of Optics Valley of Wuhan, Hubei Province. Here there are quiet ponds, gorgeous trees and lovely pathways with its own different characteristics every season.

Article 2 Food & Cooking
There are 2 dining halls, including a Muslim Dining Zone on the 2nd floor of the No.1 dining hall, on sunshine campus.
To have meals in the dining halls, a Campus Card is the most convenient way of payment. Deposit money in advance as needed, you can deposit in front of the card service window on the first floor of No.1 Dining Hall.
The Campus Card can also be used for shopping at some dining hall shops.
Most dining halls are open at the following time:
Breakfast: 7:00 – 8:30
Lunch: 11:00 – 12:30
Supper: 17:00 – 18:30
Muslim Dining Zone is open longer than other dining zones. Some dining zones might be closed during summer / winter vacation.

There are many restaurants around the campus managed by citizens, such as those at the backstreet of Sunshine Campus, the price of which is often higher than that of the campus dining hall.
China is a country with rich food culture. It is never a problem to find a restaurant with good food. Learning to use a Wuhan City Map will be helpful to you.

Most products for daily life are available at the shops and small supermarkets on campus. You can do most of your shopping at the small supermarkets next to theNo.5 student apartments, such as food, drinks, fruits, vegetables, cooking ingredients, basic cookers, basic beddings, bathroom amenities, personal care, underwear and socks, small electric appliances, stationary, etc.
If you would like to buy almost everything you need from one place, you may go to one of the following supermarkets: Zhongshang, Zhongbai, Carrefour, Walmart or Metro (listed in the order of distance to our campus, from nearby to far away).
If you care about fashion more than price, shopping departments, such as Chicony, New World, Asian Trading Plaza, Zhongnan, etc., would be suitable for you.
Almost every shopping department has some promotion on festival and holiday, and more on some big days especially the Labor Day holiday and the Chinese National Day week-off.
Some shopping departments have supermarkets on the basement floor.
Some bookstores have imported books in English.
CDs and DVDs of music and movie are also available at many bookstores.
Hubei Foreign Languages Bookstore is the place with most books in languages other than Chinese in Wuhan.
Chongwen Booksotre, which is on the second floor of Chongwen Shopping Center, has a big collection of books of various areas, and a comfortable shopping environment.
Xinhua Bookstore, as the biggest book selling organization, has the most chain stores in China.

Fruit / vegetable / cooking ingredient – supermarkets on campus, supermarkets off campus, market at the backstreet of Campus.

Shopping departments – fashionable option
A number of chain stores under different names like Gongmao, Gome, Suning are good places for purchasing these products.
They are also available at supermarkets and shopping departments.
To purchase electronic products such as PC, laptop, digital camera, mp4, etc, you may go to Computown. However, it is important to know the products and their price well before you buy anything there. If you don’t speak Chinese well, go with student volunteers who do.
Purchase invoice is crucial if you buy any of these products, since you cannot get after-selling service without it.
Shopping departments – products of well-known brand
There are a lot of shops selling various sports products around Wuhan Institute of Physical Education. They provide the most sports products.
You can find most stationary products you need in supermarkets on and off campus.
Shopping department – skin care, make-ups, jewelries
Chain stores under the name of Watson are specialized in products of personal care.
Some small shops opposite to the Asian Trading Plaza and the ones in front of the Yellow Crane Tower sell Chinese-characteristic stuff.
Most supermarkets: open around 8:00, close before 22:00.
Shopping departments: open around 9:30, close around 21:00.
Opening time of small shops might be longer.
Bargaining might be necessary for shopping at any small to medium-sized shop where price of goods is not shown.
Please check the appliances and furniture provided in the apartment with the list.
If you are leaving for a few days, please make sure that you there is no electric appliance plugged-in.
Always lock your door when you are not in the apartment. Carry precious belongings with you during your absence.
If you are moving out, please clean the apartment and put everything back into place as when you moved in, especially the bathroom, before return the key.
Article 5: Medical Care / Hospital
The University Hospital is the most convenient and economical choice for most common medical services.
Private clinics are not recommended.

Process of Seeing Doctor
If you go to a hospital for the first time, you need to buy a Medical Record book at first. When you go to that hospital afterwards, you are supposed to bring the Medical Record with you.
Appointment beforehand is not feasible in most hospitals. Instead, you need to get an appointment number with your Medical Record after getting to the hospital. And then you may wait in line at the doctor’s place or the waiting room of the department.
In some hospitals (not the University Hospital), 2 kinds of appointment number are provided, i.e. expert number and regular number. Expert number is more expensive. And you can see only the doctor whose name is given on the number note.
Paying & More
After getting prescription from the doctor, you may have it priced at the pharmacy of the hospital, and collect your medicine at the pharmacy after paying at the cash desk.
If injection service is necessary, you need to go to the injection room of the hospital after getting the medicine for injection. Skin test is required for some injection. In that case, the doctor will ask you to do the test at the injection room before you pay for the medicine.
This entry is for students enjoying medical insurance purchased by China Scholarship Council or our university.
You need to pay for all the medical fee by yourself when you in are in out-patient of out-campus hospital.
In-Patient Expenses
In-patient expenses can be reimbursed in accordance with the insurance we buy for you.
It is very important to ensure that your name in your medical records and all invoices are exactly the same with your name in passport.
For first aid at any place in China, you may call 120.
For first aid of the University Hospital, please call 59367446 .
There are some small pharmacies at backstreet and the commercial area outside the campus. And you can find many pharmacies at downtown area.

1. the code of 0086 27 needs to be dialed before the phone number for fixed phone. the code of 0086 needs to be dialed before the phone number for mobile phones .
2. To make a phone call to Wuhan from other place inside mainland China, the code of 027 needs to be dialed before the phone number for fixed phone.
Mobile Phone
As in other countries there are two mobile phone systems, 2G (GSM/CDMA) and 3G (WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/CDMA-2000) and several Mobile Network Operators in china. There are 3 MNOs which has both 2G and 3G network namely: China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom.
The 2G China Mobile and China Unicom has the same kind 2G network which use GSM card and same phones. While, China Telecom use a different network (CDMA) and phones specially designed for this network. For 3G network all the MNOs has different system and specially designed phones. China Unicom use WCDMA, China Mobile use TD-SCDMA, China Telecom use CDMA-2000
Different Phone Company has different charging systems. For more information you could go to the staffs in the service hall or ask Chinese students or volunteers for help.
Article 7: Post / Mail
The postal address of the university:

Since a letter can not be delivered to the student apartment, you can have the address of your college on it. You can also give the address of the International Dept. for your post and you will be informed once your letter arrived.
China Post
The following are what you can do with China Post:
1. Post a letter (ordinary mail)
2. Post a parcel (document)
3. Post items such as luggage and other items as permitted by law and post regulations
You can do all the above at the post office at the side entrance of the library.
Sending Post
Charge for post varies with destination place, weight, substance sent, urgency, etc.
For ordinary post, you may give the address or destination country in Chinese to the workers of the post office, they will tell you how much to pay.
To send a post to a place in China, writing the address in Chinese would facilitate the delivery. If it is other post service you need like EMS, you need to tell them the service at the same time.
All post to be delivered to our university through China Post will be handed to the Mail Room of the university, who in turn will hand them to the college / lab / office.
If it is a postal package that you will receive, you will receive the package notification first. And then you need to go to the Mail Room with your student ID to get your package.
Besides EMS of China Post, express service such as DHL and UPS are good options. Service numbers of them are as following:

Internet in dormitory
Before Use
Internet access is provided in each apartment.
Before using the Internet service in the apartment, there are 2 steps to get a PC / laptop ready.
Firstly, an account for the service needs to be opened at the Internet Center . You need to go to the center with your student ID and passport. After finish the form provided there and pay the fees, you will get your username and password.
Secondly, you need to install a program on your PC / laptop.
Charge
Fee for 1 year: 300-400 RMB (for reference only)
Options: football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, etc.
Open time: all the time except for sports meeting time
Charge: all are free except for tennis
The annual sports meeting of the university is held in the 3rd week (Thursday and Friday) of April.
In spring and autumn, various ball games of students are held in which teams are organized by college.
Article 10: Transportation / Travel
Since the campus is large, a bike would be very helpful.
Always lock your bike well if you put it at a bike park.
Motorcycle is generally not allowed in Wuhan. And for safety sake, it is suggested not even try driving a motorcycle. There have been some motorcycle accidents with international students involved at other universities in Wuhan.
You may try on electric scooter if you wish, but keep your speed low for your own safety sake.
Route of the campus van is displayed on the Campus Map.
If you need to take the campus van, just wave your hand to the driver.
Charges for the campus vans circling the campus are both 1 RMB.
If you need to go to somewhere in the city by bus, there are 3 choices, 901, 902, and 903.
Routes of these buses can be found on City Map.
Charge:
General bus: 1.0 RMB
You may deposit at the Bus Card Stand, Zhongbai Supermarket, and any McDonald’s.
Taxi is easy to catch all day and night except 18:00-18:30.
Charge: 6 RMB for the first 2 km, 1.5 RMB as bunker surcharge once.
If you get the invoice after paying for the drive, you can find the taxi if you leave something in it.
If you would like go travel or go back to your native country, you are supposed to make it in the summer / winter vacation. Please refer to the Regulations on the Management of Student Status for procedures.
It would be hard for you to return to the university on time if you go back to your native country, however, you have to make it on time as the regulation requires.
Some periods of time are not favorable for travel in China, including:
The semester beginning / ending periods: the 20 days around the date on which a semester begins / ends, such as Aug. 20 – Sept. 10 for the beginning of fall semester
The golden weeks: week-leave for the Chinese National Day
The Spring Festival period: the 20 days around the Spring Festival

Chinese airlines do not have student discount generally.
3. Campus – Airport
A taxi drive between the campus and Wuhan Airport may cost nearly 200 RMB.
Bus901 (Campus à Taxi à Fujiapo à Airport Bus à Wuhan Airport) would be good enough if your budget is lower. The airport bus ticket costs 30 RMB, and the Bus901 is 3 RMB.
Place for airport bus ticket:
Fujiaopo – Fujiapo Passenger Transportation Station, at the information desk opposite to the entry in the hall (Address: No. 358, Wuluo Road)
Schedule of airport bus leaving Fujiapo: 6:40, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 16:30, 17:30, 19:00 (for reference only, for details please call Airport Bus Service at 85818309)
An airport bus will leave for Fujiapo as long as there is a flight arriving.
1. Ticket Category
Train tickets in China are generally divided into 8 kinds: hard seat, soft seat, hard berth (down), hard berth (middle), hard berth (up), soft berth (down), soft berth (up), and non seat.
If you would like to buy a hard seat and the hard seat tickets have been sold out, the ticket seller could give you a non seat ticket, which is at the same price of hard seat, sometimes without notification.
2. Railway Stations
There are 3 railway stations for passenger in the city of Wuhan. Which namely: Wuchang Railway Station, Hankou Railway Station and Wuhan Railway Station. Wuchang Station is normally more convenient because it is closer to our campus. However, some trains do not come to Wuchang Station, or do not stop there. Wuhan Railway Station is a new station specially designed for High-speed trains (CRH) which has a little higher price and much faster speed then the ordinary one.
3. Booking Ticket
You may book train ticket at the railway stations or the train ticket office next to the South Lake Campus Gate. The tickets of both stations are available at either of them and the ticket office.
Train tickets can be booked 20 days in advance (with the day of booking and the day of departure included).
You can buy a return ticket as long as the departure station is the first station of that train, and you can buy the ticket at the railway station of one city for a train travel between another 2 cities provided that the departure station is the first station of that train.

Bus travel is generally for going to a place where railways do not reach and not too far away.
There are 2 passenger transportation stations in Wuchang:
Fujiapo Station – No. 358, Wuluo Road (Campus à Bus 901 à Go 600m west)
Hongji Station – No. 519, Zhongshan Road (Campus à Bus 901 à Go back 100m and cross the street)
Bank of China is the only one for currency exchange in China. You just need to go there with your passport (with a copy attached) and the cash you would like to exchange.
Currencies you can exchange at Bank of China include GBP, HKD, USD, CHF, SGD, SEK, DKK, NOK, JPY, CAD, AUD, EUR, MOP, PHP, THB, NZD. However, it is not certain that you will get the currency you need at the branch you go to if the branch happens to be out of that currency.

When you open a savings account at a bank, you will be given an account book. To get an ATM card for your account, you have to submit a form provided by the bank. Some bank would charge you for the card.
Almost in every bank, an annual service fee of 10~12 RMB will be charged for the card.
With the ATM card, you can get 24-hour withdrawing service.
Most ATM card has UnionPay label, and it can be used on any ATM with such a label. However, you will be charged if it is the ATM of another bank. Withdraw from ATM of other cities will also be charged a service fee.
There is a limitation of daily withdraw amount (about 10,000 – 20,000 RMB), times of withdrawing in 1 day (3 – 5 times), and withdraw amount of each time (2,500 – 5,000 RMB). And the amount varies with bank, while the above given is for reference only.
For some banks, if you have an account book and an ATM card for one account, you need to give your account book to the bank clerk to print your record after using the ATM card for some times.
In case you lost your ATM card, you need to lock your account at the branch where you opened the account with passport immediately. Once you locked your account, you cannot get the money in the account until it is unlocked after a period prescribed by the bank.
There are 2 ATM at the No.1dining hall 1F on Sunshine campus. They are Agricultural Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
